My wife and I recently bought a older washing machine from a friend of a friend. When I went to hook it up, I noticed a ground wire coming from the back of it. I assume its a ground, because its green. What do I do with this? I have heard a couple differnet stories. One states to ground it back to the washing machine, but that does not make sense to me. If the thing shorts out all of the electricity would be flowing through the machine, and then I touch it and get zaped.
I would think it would need to be grounded to the ground in the main panel. Anyone have expirences with this?

——————————————

Answer by nailer
If this washer just plugs into the wall outlet like I think it does then its already grounded. But if you are nervous hard-wire the ground directly to an available ground screw in the panel.

Answer by Buzzy Smith
If you can’t reach the main panel to ground the machine, the easiest way to handle it is to get a small worm clamp and ground it right to the water pipe. That is the perfect natural ground.

Answer by Aaliyah F
If the main panel has a place for a ground, then this is were the ground from the machine along with the ground from the electric cord that connects to the wall socket is connected.

Question by Rachel:
How do I disable my touch pad on my Dell Inspiron 1525?
When I am typing the cursor will move back into things that I have already typed and muck everything up. I think it is because the touch pad is really sensitive and I am trying to figure out how to disable it. There is no icon in the tray on the bottom right hand of the screen like there used to be, I have no idea where it went. When I go under the mouse options in the control panel, the button to disable my touch pad is grayed out and will not grant me to click on it. I also can’t find anything to change the sensitivity of the touch pad.

I have a wireless mouse that I always use so I do not need the touch pad at all. I could uninstall the touch pad permanently but I am afraid that it would be to complicated to reinstall the driver.

Any more recommendations would be immensely appreciated, thanks!

Answer by Mike S
Go to “Mouse” option in Control Panel. First tab = “Dell Touchpad” Click to change settings
Select “Device Select”
Check the checkbox at the bottom that states “Disable Touchpad / Pointing Stick when external USB mouse is present”
click apply.

Answer by Jake
One thing you might try is to uninstall the device in device manager and then reinstall the device and driver. If you believe the issue is the hardware then if you take the laptop apart and verify that the cable is making good connection but if the touchpad quit working when the unit had been left stationary, I do not think this would be the case. 9 times out of 10 when a device quits working when a pc was sitting it’s the drivers and/or software.

I use a laptop for gaming and I need to in cress how much scrolling does like make each scroll stronger(more clicks or whatever). When I go into control panel, hardware, mouse, scrolling and change the value there it doesn’t do anything for my Microsoft wireless mouse only the touch pad mouse. How can I change the wireless mouse settings?

Answer by jim
That is one solution. The other one i got is if you installed software with it, sometimes the software will over ride the control panel for some reason, but it USUALLY does not. Changing it in the software should work.

Answer by Pro
it might be shutting off on the high limit switch

Answer by everythingchanges
Don’t quite comprehend but if the fan is blowing and the heat or burner is running then I would guess it’s working but it is drawing in colder air than normal possibly drawing outside air through some opening. The average furnace raises the air temp about 50 to 80 degrees above the air temp entering it. Either that or the burner is not staying on continuously during the heating cycle.

Answer by itybtytityluvr
It could also be the thermocoupling, which if it doesnt sense the main burner is lit after a few seconds it will shut the burner down before it can produce any real heat.

Answer by Boris 22
Usually wireless mouse has a tiny button called Connect. This button is located on the bottom of the mouse. You have to push with something small (pen works fine) this button and hold it fo couple seconds

Answer by ronin
make sure the usb receiver/dongle is correctly inserted.
and of course you have fresh batteries in each device.

make sure the keyboard and mouse are within range to sync with the receiver.

I have a Compaq Evo N410c, and sometimes the touch pad for the mouse grants me to tap on it to simulate clicking instead of using the 2 buttons below it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. It seems to work and not work randomly and not in any pattern. I have looked into the control panel mouse settings, but nothing seems to be there. I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. Any suggestions?

I use a laptop for gaming and I need to in cress how much scrolling does like make each scroll stronger(more clicks or whatever). When I go into control panel, hardware, mouse, scrolling and change the value there it doesn’t do anything for my Microsoft wireless mouse only the touch pad mouse. How can I change the wireless mouse settings?

Answer by Mister Anonymous
There should be specific drivers or software that you can download for your mouse depending on where you got it from

For example, the Microsoft Wireless Arc Mouse has software you can download

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/arc-mouse/ZJA-00001

in the “Support” tab where you select your operating system. The same can be done if you have a Razor mouse. You can check if there is software for your mouse by typing the company name into google, look for your mouse, look for support and drivers. The software should give you options on how you want your mouse optimized for your personal use

Answer by Bassman1
Try this go to start, control panel, mouse, in the mouse/touch pad properties buttons tab click button configuration devises down arrow and click other, then increase the click speed, then go to hardware tab click compliant mouse under devises, go to pointer options tab change to fast, go to wheel tab and increase scroll, click apply and save.
